Abstract

In this paper, the researchers examined the meaning of depressed economy, the role of ICT in development in Nigeria and the resources for ICT development. The researchers concluded that Nigeria has adequate human and material resources and if ICT industry is developed, the industry can become the biggest employer of labour above oil and one of the largest contributor to the GDP of our nation. Accordingly, Nigeria government must stimulate ICTcapacity development among Nigerian youths and develop it in all the sectors in a very effective and efficient manner so as to diversify the economy in a sustainable manner and thus make Nigeria become a globally recognized ICT development nation
